‘Not good enough’ and ‘overpaid’: Ratcliffe slams Man Utd flops

LONDON: Manchester United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe has blasted some of his troubled club’s stars as “not good enough” and “probably overpaid.” Ratcliffe has endured a dismal start to his reign at Old Trafford since taking charge of footballing operations in February last year. The British billionaire named Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana and Casemiro, Jadon Sancho and Antony as the chief causes of his frustration. Sancho and Antony are currently on loan at Chelsea and Real Betis respectively after underachieving with United. In reference to United still paying instalments of transfer fees on several out-of-form players, Ratcliffe, who shares ownership of United with the US-based Glazer family, told the BBC: “If you look at the players we are buying this summer, that we didn’t buy, we’re buying Antony, we’re buying Casemiro, we’re buying Onana, we’re buying Hojlund, we’re buying Sancho. “These are all things from the past, whether we like it or not, we’ve inherited those things and have to sort that out. “For Sancho, who now plays for Chelsea and we pay half his wages, we’re paying £17 million to buy him in the summer.” Asked if he was suggesting those players were not good enough for United, Ratcliffe said: “Some are not good enough and some probably are overpaid, but for us to mold the squad that we are fully responsible for, and accountable for, will take time.” After United finished eighth in the Premier League last season and won the FA Cup, Ratcliffe and his United advisers opted to stick with boss Erik ten Hag despite their poor form for much of the campaign. The Dutchman was subsequently sacked in October and replaced by Ruben Amorim after United endured another wretched run. INEOS chairman Ratcliffe has accepted the

Champions Trophy 2025 Review: India's Spin Quartet, Shreyas Iyer's Consistency And Rohit Sharma's Powerplay Template

India overcame a stiff challenge from New Zealand in the final of the 2025 Champions Trophy and defeated their ICC-tournament nemesis by four wickets in a thriller at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday night. The spin quartet were the heroes for India in the evening with the wrist spinners – Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy - causing severe damage to the top order while Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel choked the flow of runs in the middle overs. Skipper Rohit Sharma led the way with his aggressive template in the powerplay while Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul maintained a cool and calm head in tense moments in the run-chase.

Rohit Sharma Clears Air On Playing 2027 World Cup After CT 2025 Triumph. Says: "It Wouldn't Be..."

Rohit Sharma gave a big statement after India's Champions Trophy 2025 triumph clearing the air on his future in ODIs. "I am not going to retire from this format. Just to make sure no rumours are spread moving forward. Koi future plan hai nahi, jo chal raha hai chalega (there is no future plan, whatever is going on will continue as it is)," Rohit Sharma said. "There is a lot of hunger even in guys who have played a lot of cricket and it rubs down on even the younger players. We have five to six players who are real stalwarts. It makes the job easier for all of us." That statement assured all that he is not going anywhere soon.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli Should Think About Retirement After Winning 2027 ODI World Cup: Ex-India Star

Former cricketer Yograj Singh was delighted with India captain Rohit Sharma's decision to continue with his cricketing journey and put his decision to retire for some other day. Speculations and reports pointed towards the Champions Trophy final between India and New Zealand in Dubai, the platform for Rohit's last dance in the ODIs. He broke the spine of New Zealand's 251-run target defence with his swashbuckling 76 and laid the foundation for India, lifting the title in front of a sold-out crowd in Dubai. After India experienced euphoria and relished in its four-wicket win against the Kiwis, Rohit addressed the media and confirmed he is "not going to retire from this format."
