The Indore pitch turned out to be extremely helpful for spinners as the Australian spinners bundled out India for just 109 on Day 1 of the third Test encounter on Wednesday. Both India openers – Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill – were bamboozled by the extra spin that the Australian bowlers enjoyed but the dismissal of Cheteshwar Pujara left everyone visibly stunned. In the ninth over of the match, Nathan Lyon pitched the ball short outside off stump and Pujara was quickly on his back foot to cut it through the point region. However, the ball turned massively and crashed into the stumps as Pujara was left completely stranded by his stance. The shock was visible on Pujara's face as he made his way back to the pavilion and even skipper Rohit was visibly stunned.

It was a disappointing day on the field for India as the hosts were bundled out for 109 and Australia ended up taking a lead on Day 1 of the third Test match in Indore. The Indian batsmen played rash shots and were unable to deal with the dual bounce of the pitch and except for Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli, not a single batsman was able to breach the 20-run mark. While things were looking grim for Rohit Sharma and Co, Kohli was captured on camera dancing on the field. The star India batter broke into dance suddenly while fielding and Rohit was also seen smiling at his teammates' antics.

"It's been a tough series and they have been outplayed by India upto this point, so the series is done and they can't win it but they can salvage a lot out of it and that's the challenge and look Australia has come up against very skilful Indian team here there is no reason Australia can't salvage something out of it and of course world test championship is something that is on offer for both teams. So that makes it quite interesting," Gilchrist said.
