IPL 2023: Delhi Capitals' Unique Gesture For Rishabh Pant Leaves Twitter Emotional

Rishabh Pant may not be taking part in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 but Delhi Capitals found a way to keep him in spirit with the side during their match against Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow on Saturday. Pant was ruled out of the competition due to injuries suffered in a road accident back in December 2022. However, DC management have repeatedly said that they want to keep the former skipper close to the proceedings and they decided to put his jersey on top of the dugout. Pant has already said that he will try to come for the home matches of the franchise.

Rohit Sharma, Jofra Archer Fit For Mumbai Indians' IPL 2023 Opener Against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Confirms Coach Mark Boucher

Mumbai Indians head coach Mark Boucher confirmed that skipper Rohit Sharma and pacer Jofra Archer are fit for their IPL opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday. There were speculations that Rohit might not be available for the opening game as he had missed the captains' photo shoot in Ahmedabad. But Boucher dispelled all rumours. "Yes, Rohit is fit. He has trained the last two days and is 100 per cent ready to go. I think he didn't feel particularly well that morning and just as a precaution, we told him to stay at home," Boucher said at the pre-match press conference on Saturday.

Sunil Gavaskar, Harbhajan Singh Give Clear Verdict On 'Impact Player' Rule In IPL 2023

The 'Impact Player' in the Indian Premier League 2023 has garnered everyone's attention from the day BCCI announced its introduction in this edition. In the opening match of IPL 2023 between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings, one thing that was on everyone's mind was how the teams are going to use it and who will be the designated 'impact players'. While teams in IPL are taking nascent steps on how to ace it, the experts, meanwhile, have given thumbs up to the 'Impact Player' on Star Sports, the official TV broadcasters of IPL. Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar gave his thumbs up to the new rule introduced by the BCCI as it has increased the curiosity quotient of everyone involved in IPL. The legendary India cricketer believes the teams might need some time to ace this new rule.

IPL 2023: Up against SunRisers Hyderabad In Campaign Opener, Rajasthan Royals Keen To Recreate Magic Of Last Year

A well-balanced squad at their disposal, Rajasthan Royals would look to recreate this year the same magic which saw them emerge second best in IPL 2022, as they take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in their campaign opener in Hyderabad on Sunday. The Royals, led by Sanju Samson, are a side overflowing with performers, with both the purple cap (highest wicket-taker) and orange cap (highest run-getter) being cornered by their players -- Yuzvendra Chahal and Jos Buttler -- last season. Over the years, the Royals have built the reputation of being gritty opponents that do not surrender an inch of their territory.

"You Don't Expect": Virender Sehwag's Brutal Take On MS Dhoni's Captaincy In IPL 2023

MS Dhoni is well known for his courageous decisions as skipper and over the years, he has been proven correct in his understanding of the sport. However, the decision to bring Tushar Deshpande as the impact player and handing him the ball for the final over during the IPL 2023 opener between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans did not work in Dhoni's favour. Deshpande ended up conceding 51 runs in four overs and was unable to clinch the win for his side in the final over of the game. Ex-India opener Virender Sehwag weighed in on the decision to favour the youngster over a seasoned player like Moeen Ali and he had an interesting take on Dhoni's captaincy on Friday.

IPL 2023: Floodlights Malfunction Leads To Near 30-Minute Delay In KKR's Chase vs PBKS

Kolkata Knight Riders' chase against Punjab Kings in their IPL match on Saturday was delayed by almost half an hour due to floodlight malfunction. The PCA-IS Bindra Stadium here has a total of six floodlights at a comparatively lower height. Floodlight malfunction is common at Indian stadiums and on the day, once KKR came out to bat, a lot of bulbs in multiple towers didn't turn on and it became a frustrating wait for the players, who then went inside the dressing room. The onus on stadium maintenance lies with Punjab Cricket Association and the inordinate delay was certainly an embarrassment for the local unit.
