Besides Sindhu, India's ace men's singles shuttler HS Prannoy battled his way into the quarterfinals but it was curtains for compatriot Kidambi Srikanth. While Prannoy, seeded eighth, had to battle it out for an hour and two minutes to prevail over Indonesian Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo 16-21 21-5 18-21 in a round of 16 match, Srikanth was shown the door by fourth seeded Japanese Kodai Naraoka 14-21 22-20 9-21.
