India's Anahat Singh clinched the gold medal in the U-17 category of the Asian Junior Squash Individual Championships, held from August 16-20. The 15-year-old Anahat defeated Hong Kong's Ena Kwong 3-1 in the final on Sunday to win the gold medal. She had beaten Malaysian players Doyce Lee and Whitney Isabelle Wilson in the quarterfinal and semifinal, respectively. Last year in Thailand, the Delhi-based Anahat had won her first gold medal of this event.

Antim Panghal Determined To Shine In Asian Games, World Championships

Young wrestler Antim Panghal, who challenged stalwart Vinesh Phogat in the Asian Games trials, is determined to prove a point in the continental showpiece and the subsequent World Championships. Panghal, who competes in 53kg in women's freestyle event, challenged Vinesh after the latter was handed a direct entry into the Asian Games squad by the Indian Olympic Association-instituted ad-hoc committee, which is currently running the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). However, Vinesh withdrew from the Asian Games a few days back because of a knee injury for which she underwent a surgery in Mumbai, paving the way for Panghal's inclusion in the Hangzhou-bound team.

Hockey India Names 39-Member Men's Core Probable Group For National Coaching Camp Ahead Of Asian Games

Gearing up for the all-important Hangzhou Asian Games, Hockey India on Sunday named a 39-member core men's probable group for the national coaching camp beginning in Bengaluru on Monday. The camp, which will serve as an opportunity for the players to fine-tune their skills, is scheduled to be held at SAI Centre from August 21 to September 18. The Asian Games is scheduled to be held from September 23 to October 8 in China. The Indian men's team, which lifted the Asian Champions Trophy title for a record fourth time in Chennai early this month, will begin their campaign at the Asian Games against Uzbekistan on September 24.

World Championships: HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen Lead India's Medal Hunt; In-Form Satwit-Chirag Title Favourites

The in-form duo of HS Prannoy and Lakshya Sen will be at the forefront of India's medal hunt at the BWF World Championships beginning in Copenhagen on Monday. All eyes will also be on Satwiksaraj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, the country's best doubles pair at world number 2, as they look to better the colour of the bronze that they claimed in the last edition. India have won 13 medals, including one gold, four silvers and 8 bronze medals since 1977 when the tournament first started before turning into a biennial event from 1983 to 2005.
