Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube collided with each other while taking a catch during India's second T20I match against Ireland in Dublin on Sunday. On the final ball of the third over of Ireland's chase against India, Lorcan Tucker mistimed a pull shot on the bowling of Prasidh Krishna. The duo of Gaikwad and Dube collided while going for the catch, however, the former managed to hang onto the ball despite that. Luckily, both the players escaped unhurt and it ended with smiling faces.

Sports Authority Of India Wants Bajrang Punia To Attend World Wrestling Championships Trials Or Give Fitness Certificate

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) wants Olympic-medallist wrestler Bajrang Punia to attend the trials for the World championships or provide fitness certificate if he wants exemption from this week's exercise in Patiala. Punia is planning to skip the trials for the World Championships on August 25 and 26 and instead wants to train at a foreign location to prepare for the Asian Games in Hangzhou beginning September 23. Bajrang, one of six wrestlers to sit in protest at the Jantar Mantar against outgoing WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, and Commonwealth Games gold-medal winner Deepak Punia (86khg) are not keen to compete in the World Championships in Belgrade from September 16, and instead want to undergo long training stints to prepare of the Asian Games.

Rahul is still nursing an injury and hence Sanju Samson has been kept as the backup. However, one notable omission in the squad was that of leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. The Indian junior men's hockey team scored a fluent 4-0 victory over England at the 4-Nations Tournament Dusseldorf on Monday. Rajinder Singh (13th), Amir Ali (33th), Amandeep Lakra (41st) and Araijeet Singh Hundal (58th) were the goal scorers for India. After a cagey start to the match, India went ahead 1-0 after Rajinder converted a penalty corner. Trailing by a goal, England started stitching together attacking moves to cover the deficit in the second quarter.

Anirban Lahiri Finishes Third In Newcastle

Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri shot a fine 3-under 68 in the final round but failed to find as many birdies as he deserved to finish third at the International Series England. The 36-year-old had earlier finished second at the International Series in Vietnam. Lahiri, who carded 70-69-69 in his first three rounds, finished at 8-under 276 and was third behind winner, Andy Ogletree (64) at 15-under and Ian Poulter (64) at 9-under 275. Among the other Indians, Ajeetesh Sandhu (71-72-71-72) was T-31 while Gaganjeet Bhullar (76-67-75-76) at 10-over 294 was T-65 and Jyoti Randhawa (74-71-81-74) was T-74.

The Indian cricket team squad for Asia Cup 2023 was announced on Monday and during the press conference following the reveal, skipper Rohit Sharma faced a lot of questions regarding the possible team combinations and how the batting order can look against Pakistan in the first match of the competition. However, the veteran batter was completely unfazed by the queries and he came up with a straight yet hilarious answer. He explained that most slots in the batting order are already decided with No. 4 and 5 being the slots where some flexibility is possible. He further explained that youngsters will be shuffled in different positions and joked that the team will not indulge in 'madness' like "sending a opener to bat at No 8".

Indian Super League (ISL) side NorthEast United FC sealed their place in the quarter-finals of the Durand Cup 2023 with a blistering 3-1 victory over Downtown Heroes FC at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday. The Highlanders put up a dominant display in the second half to secure a comeback win.
