Igor Stimac Show Caused By AIFF For Alleged Breach Of Agreement

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Saturday issued a show-cause notice to senior men's team head coach Igor Stimac for making comments construed as a breach of agreement by his employers. Hitting out at some of the ISL clubs for their unwillingness to release players for the national camp in preparation for the Asian Games, World Cup Qualifiers and the Asian Cup, Stimac said if Indian football needs his help, he will need to tell the truth. The former Croatian defender coming out in the open with his views didn't go down well with the AIFF brass, as they sought a response from the coach. "This is not just about the recent comments but it has been happening for a while now. He is in breach of his agreement with the AIFF. If he has any issues, he could have discussed it with the federation directly rather than going public," a source close to the AIFF told PTI.

"They Cannot Play" Shaheen Afridi: Ex Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Quips After India's Batting Capitulation

The India vs Pakistan match at the Asia Cup 2023 stood witness to a spectacular batting collapse for the Rohit Sharma-led team. The famed top-order of Team India could not fire at all. Rohit Sharma fell for 11 in the fifth over while Virat Kohli (4) in the seventh over. By 14.1 overs, India were 66/4. Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma fell victim to Shaheen Afridi's terrific pace bowling. The left-arm pacer also took the wickets of India's top-scorer Hardik Pandya (87) and Ravindra Jadeja (14).

Haris Rauf gave an animated send-off after dismissing Ishan Kishan during the Asia Cup 2023 match between India and Pakistan at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Saturday. Kishan scored a brilliant half-century but he started struggling with cramps as the match progressed. The left-hander looked in trouble and he went for big shots in hunt for some quick runs. However, he ended up miscuing a delivery from Rauf and was caught comfortably by Babar Azam at mid-on. It was a big wicket for Pakistan as the Ishan Kishan-Hardik Pandya partnership was finally broken and Rauf's expression said it all.

Cricket Fatigue: Near-Empty Stands, Lack Of Buzz For India vs Pakistan Game Raises Eyebrows

A cricket match involving India and Pakistan is not just about top-quality cricket, but it is also about roaring fans giving the stadium the atmosphere of a Roman colosseum. But the Pallekele Stadium was cocooned in a rather serene ambience on Saturday, as India and Pakistan faced each other in their Asia Cup 2023 Group A match. There were fans – the flag-waving, cheering, applauding kind. But not in numbers that often electrify the venue, despite India batting first.

Shaheen Afridi was the top performer for Pakistan during the Asia Cup 2023 match against India as he took the important wickets of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The Babar Azam-led side was off to a brilliant start as Indian batters found it hard to play the pace bowling from Shaheen and Naseem Shah. The overcast conditions at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium was extremely conducive for their style of bowling and it resulted in both Rohit and Virat failing to score big. One moment that has gone viral on social media saw Kohli giving a stunned reaction as Rohit was beaten by a delivery from Shaheen.
