Since the time India's squad for the ODI World Cup 2023 was announced, fans and experts are already contemplating which XI players will make the cut in the opening clash against Australia. Former India batter Sanjay Bangar, sharing dug deep into the selection matters and named his India XI for the opening match against Australia, which is to be held in Chennai. To the surprise of many, Bangar didn't pick KL Rahul in his team and went witht he No. 4 and No. 5 pairing of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan respectively.

India Lose To Iraq In Shootout After Conceding Debatable Penalty At King's Cup

A Sunil Chhetri-less India conceded a late goal off a debatable penalty to miss out on their first ever win over higher-ranked Iraq who won via penalty shootout in the King's Cup in Chiang Mai, Thailand on Thursday. India were leading 2-1 till the 79th minute when the referee awarded a soft penalty to Iraq after their striker Aymen Ghadhban was squeezed by two defenders in the box during a tussle to get on to a high cross. It did not look like a clear-cut penalty but Ghadhban himself stepped up to take the kick from the spot and scored to level the match 2-2 and take it to the penalty shootout.

Murali Sreeshankar Pulls Out Of Diamond League Final In USA To Focus On Asian Games

Star Indian long jumper Murali Sreeshankar has pulled out of the prestigious Diamond League Final in USA later this month to focus on the Hangzhou Asian Games beginning on September 23. Sreeshankar made the decision after taking into account that he would need a lot of travel if he has to take part in the September 17 DL Final in Eugene, which may have an impact on his body and disrupt training. "Sreeshankar is not taking part in the DL Final in Eugene to focus on the Asian Games. Taking part in the DL Final will involve a lot of travel, jet lag etc," Sreeshankar's father S Murali told PTI.

Kuldeep Yadav was facing an uncertain future by the end of 2021. He had gone down in India's pecking order and Kolkata Knight Riders benched him for the whole of that IPL season. But within the last year or so Kuldeep has managed to change his status to become one of the automatic picks in India's World Cup-bound 15 which was announced on Tuesday. Kuldeep has also nosed ahead of leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and off-spinners R Ashwin and Washington Sundar in the India scheme of things.

In fact, Bhajji feels what Suryakumar can do at the No. 5 or No. 6 position, no other batter in the Indian team can.

He will be available for Kent's remaining home matches against Nottinghamshire and Lancashire, as well as the away game versus Somerset. "Always so proud of you. Asia Cup 2023: Babar Azam Surpasses Virat Kohli For A Massive World Record

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam on Wednesday surpassed India's star batter Virat Kohli to register a new world record. Playing against Bangladesh in the Super 4 match at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Babar scored 17 runs off 22 balls before becoming a victim of Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed. However, the knock helped the right-handed batter reach 2000 ODI runs as captain. Babar did that in only 31 innings beating the world record holder Virat Kohli, who had achieved it in 36 innings.
