Strong Indian Golf Team Eyes Asian Games 2023 Medals

The seven-member Indian golf team, comprising the likes of Anirban Lahiri and Aditi Ashok, will be hoping to carry forward its recent superb form when the event commences at the Asian Games on Thursday. Lahiri will be leading an experienced set of Indian golfers including Shubhankar Sharma, Khalin Joshi and SSP Chawrasia, while the women's team has the likes of Olympian Aditi, Pranavi Urs and Avani Prashanth. While Lahiri and Sharma have been given automatic berths in the men's section, Aditi has been given the same honour among women.

Indian boxer Sachin Siwach put up a dominant display in his opening 57kg bout to sail into the pre-quarterfinals of the Asian Games on Tuesday. The 23-year-old managed to dominate the match from the beginning wading off flurry of attacks from the Indonesian with ease using his flashy footwork. Sachin successfully used his long reach to connect accurate jabs and hooks. As the clock ticked, the 2021 World Youth Championship grew in confidence to earn a facile win. He will face Turki Abuquthailah of Kuwait in the Round of 16.

Asian Games 2023: Manu Bhaker Tops Charts In 25m Pistol Women's Precision Qualification, Team India Leads

With 876 points, the Indian trio of Esha Singh, Manu Bhaker and Rhythm Sangwan finished on top in the 25m Pistol women's team qualification on Tuesday at the Asian Games. China and Chinese Taipei are in second and third positions respectively. Bhaker is at the top of the table with 294 points ahead of China's Sixuan Feng in the women's 25m Pistol qualification in the precision round. Esha finished third with 292 while Sangwan finished at 11th with 290. The trio's combined score has put India on top of the team event with 876 points. China is close behind with 874 points.

Neha Thakur, 17, led the show with a silver while Eabad Ali claimed a bronze, as India bagged two medals in sailing at the Asian Games at Ningbo, China on Tuesday. Neha powered India to the first medal of the day when she finished second in girl's dinghy ILCA-4 event. India's second medal came in the men's windsurfer RS:X event where Ali with a net score of 52 points came third behind Natthaphong Phonoppharat of Thailand and gold medallist Wonwoo Cho of Korea.
