The BCCI on Monday decided to resume the IPL season across six venues from May 17 with the final slated for June 3 as per the revised schedule. The IPL was halted on May 8 after the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was called off after Pakistan tried to invade Indian air space near Chandigarh, forcing a blackout in the stadium. However the board officials decided for a quick resumption of the league, following India and Pakistan agreeing a ceasefire in their border conflict.

The IPL 2025 restart date is out. "The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is pleased to announce the resumption of the TATA IPL 2025. After extensive consultations with government and security agencies, and with all the key stakeholders, the Board has decided to proceed with the remainder of the season," the cricket body said in a statement. According to the earlier schedule, the final was supposed to be held on May 25. However, it will now take place over a week later, on June 3.

"It closes the chapter on the most transformative figure in Indian cricket since Sachin Tendulkar; perhaps Kohli even eclipses him in terms of cultural influence and psychological impact on India's cricketing identity," Chappell wrote.
Indian batter Shubman Gill, who is reportedly a front-runner to become India's next Test captain, penned a heartwarming note for batting legend Virat Kohli, who announced his retirement from Test cricket on Monday. In his post on Instagram, Gill recalled watching Virat as a 13-year-old and being left in wonder by his energy and hailed the batter for "reshaping the mindset of millions".
