England batting all-rounder Emma Lamb was on Friday withdrawn from the upcoming one-off Test against India to be played here from December 14-17. The 25-year-old has suffered a back injury and will be returning home to consult with a spinal surgeon, according to England Cricket. Middle-order batter Maia Bouchier and left-arm spinner Kirstie Gordon have been added to the Test squad, stated ECB. While Gordon played her only Test against Australia Women four years ago in Taunton, Bouchier is yet to make her debut in the conventional format but has played 22 T20Is and three ODIs for England Women.
Punjab Kings on Friday appointed former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar as its head of cricket development for the upcoming IPL season. The former India all-rounder was the franchise's assistant coach when it finished runners-up in 2014. In the next two seasons, he served as the head coach when the side finished at the bottom of the table. "It's my privilege to be with the Punjab Kings again," Bangar stated in a media release. Bangar will work in tandem with the team's head coach Trevor Bayliss as the duo will form the think tank for the IPL auction, slated to be held in Dubai on December 19.

Having got a snub in the inaugural Women's Premier League auction earlier this year, a leaner and much fitter Veda is now hoping to earn a WPL contract on Saturday, an opportunity which can open the national team's door for her. "I feel that the ability and experience I have will not take much time for me to get into a system and adjust again. It is all about going there and showcasing whatever I can," Veda told PTI in an exclusive interview.
Delhi Capitals are all geared up to strengthen their squad in the Auction for the Women's Premier League 2024 set to be held in Mumbai on Saturday. The Delhi-based franchise, which has retained 15 players, has to acquire three players to complete their squad for the WPL. It has a remaining purse of Rs 2.25 crore ahead of the Auction. Speaking ahead of the Auction, Delhi Capitals' Head Coach Jonathan Batty said, "We want to improve the depth of the squad. We did really well in last year's Auction and constructed a good 18-player squad. We'll just look to make our current squad slightly better in the upcoming Auction. The coaching group has had a few discussions on the team we want to have and we are excited to go into the Auction."
