Sudirman Cup Badminton: India Bow Out After Defeat Against Indonesia

Struggling singles stars PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy disappointed yet again as India crashed out of the BWF Sudirman Cup Finals after conceding an unassailable 1-3 lead to Indonesia in a group D match, on Tuesday. Having lost to Denmark 1-4 in their opening match on Sunday, India needed to win Tuesday's contest to stay alive in the race for the knockout stage. The defeat has rendered their India's last group match against England -- who also made an exit from the tournament -- inconsequential. Indonesia, who had beaten England 5-0 on Sunday, and Denmark made it to the knock-out round after winning two matches on the trot. Denmark prevailed over England 5-0 on Tuesday.

Nat Sciver-Brunt Appointed England Women's Cricket Captain Across All Formats

Nat Sciver-Brunt has been named the new captain of the England women's team. She succeeds Heather Knight, who left her role following England's 2025 women's Ashes series after a near nine-year tenure. She will lead in all three formats working alongside recently appointed head coach Charlotte Edwards. "I'm really proud to take on the role of captain of the England Women's team and it's an honour to have been asked by Charlotte, someone I've always looked up to. Ever since I made my England debut back in 2013, all I have wanted to do is help the team in every way that I can. I will try my best to lead this team to success, whilst empowering them to be the best version of themselves," she said.

KKR Star Unhappy With Coach Chandrakant Pandit Over Objection On Dining With Rival Player: Report

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) haven't found the same groove this season that saw them lift the Indian Premier League (IPL) title last term. The franchise only has three wins in nine matches, placing them 7th in the points table, in a bit of flux over playoff qualification. Even the team's pacer Harshit Rana said that the team doesn't have the same 'thrill' as it did in the last campaign when Gautam Gambhir was with the support staff. The situation, hence, raises many questions on the role of head coach Chandrakant Pandit, whose management style hasn't gone down well with multiple players.

"No Fear...": Vaibhav Suryavanshi's Audacious Remark After Slamming Record IPL Ton

After smashing a scintillating century against Gujarat Titans (GT), Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi, aged 14, expressed his happiness following the knock, saying that the accomplishment feels like a "dream" and there is no fear in his batting. Suryavanshi, aged just 14 years and 32 days, registered his name in cricket history books as the youngest centurion in T20 cricket and the fastest Indian centurion in IPL history, making a mockery of a 210-run chase along with his batting partner, Yashasvi Jaiswal. Speaking in the post-match presentation, Suryavanshi said, "It feels really good. It was my first century in the IPL in my third innings. What I've been practicing for the last three-four months, the result is showing. I don't see the ground so much, just focus on the ball. There is no fear. I do not think much about the bowlers, I just focus on playing."

Inter looking to power back up ahead of Champions League match at Barcelona

MILAN: Strange things happen when Inter Milan plays Barcelona in the Champions League semifinals. The last time the two teams met in the final four of Europe’s elite club competition, in 2010, Barcelona had to make a 15-hour journey by bus to Milan after an ash cloud caused by the eruption of the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajokull shut down air space. Barcelona lost that first leg 3-1 and a stout defensive performance by Inter in the return match saw it advance to the final 3-2 on aggregate — where it beat Bayern Munich to clinch a historic treble under Jose Mourinho. Inter is hoping it won’t have to make a similarly arduous journey after an unprecedented blackout brought much of Spain and Portugal to a standstill Monday. Power had almost fully returned to Spain early Tuesday morning and Inter’s charter flight was still scheduled to take off for Barcelona at 5 p.m.

Real Madrid defender Rüdiger expected to miss the rest of the season after knee surgery

MADRID: Real Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger underwent knee surgery on Tuesday and is expected to miss the rest of the season. Madrid said Rüdiger successfully underwent surgery on a meniscus tear in his left knee and will begin “his recovery process shortly.” The club did not give a timeline for his return. Rüdiger had to be replaced in extra time of Madrid 3-2 loss to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday. He made headlines for shouting at the referee from the bench and for apparently throwing a small bag of ice onto the field. Rüdiger apologized for his behavior but the incident prompted former Germany player Dietmar Hamann to call for the defender to be left out of Germany’s squad for the Nations League final four in June. German national team sporting director Rudi Völler also criticized Rüdiger, saying he needed to show “class” and respect for others. Germany plays Portugal in the Nations League semifinals in Munich on June 4.
