All India Football Federation's (AIFF) Principal legal advisor Nilanjan Bhattacharjee on Saturday made serious "corruption allegations" against president Kalyan Chaubey, who termed them baseless and said he would take legal action. In a letter written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bhattacharjee said Chaubey worked out "corruption avenues" through non transparent tender process and preferential allotment of tender.
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly praised young batter Sarfaraz Khan, saying that his game suits the five-day format. Right-handed batter Sarfaraz, who has been scoring runs consistently in domestic cricuit for the past three years, finally got his chance against England in Rajkot Test. England's experienced right-arm seamer James Anderson is just two more scalps away from 700 Test wickets as he prepares himself for the fifth Test of the ongoing five-match Test series against India. The fifth Test starts in Dharamsala on Thursday. Anderson has snapped a total of 698 wickets so far in 186 Tests at an average of 26.51 where he has conceded runs at an economy of 2.79 with 32 four-wicket hauls and 32 five-wicket hauls.

The Indian challenge at the German Open badminton tournament ended after the women's doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand lost in the quarterfinals on Friday. In the last eight match, the Indian duo sustained a loss to China's Li Yi Jing and Luo Xu Min 21-16, 21-14 in a 41-minute affair. Former Indian cricket team pacer Madan Lal, who was part of the 1983 World Cup-winning team, has praised the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for terminating star duo Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer's central contracts. While the BCCI didn't reveal the reason behind the decision to axe Kishan and Iyer, reports have claimed that the board was not happy with the players after both decided to skip domestic games for their state teams, despite being cleared fit by the NCA. Lal lauded BCCI over the polarising move, saying that playing domestic cricket should be made compulsory for those who prioritise IPL over First Class matches.
