RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana feels it's not right for people to undermine Virat Kohli's achievements for the Bengaluru franchise in the wake of her side's Women's Premier League title triumph recently. The Mandhana-led RCB defeated Delhi Capitals to lift the WPL trophy in only their second year, while their male counterparts, led by the charismatic Kohli for nearly a decade before he stepped down, haven't had success in the 16 years of IPL. "The title is one thing, but what he (Kohli) has achieved for India is remarkable. So, I don't think that comparison is right in terms of where my career is and what he has already achieved," Mandhana told the media on Tuesday.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) are gearing up for the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season under the leadership of Shikhar Dhawan. Punjab will look to end their search for the elusive IPL trophy after spending Rs 24.95 crores at the mini-auction in Dubai last year. In the previous season, Punjab Kings finished eighth on the points table, winning six matches and suffering eight losses. There has been a lot of criticism regarding the low attendance during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 and the situation was more or less the same during the final between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United in Karachi on Monday. Several users took to social media to post pictures from the National Stadium in Karachi and they showed mostly empty stands. The users were not very happy with the lack of attendance and some of them even compared the tournament with the numbers seen in the Women's Premier League (WPL) in India. The WPL final saw an attendance of just over 29,000.
