One of the finest spinners India have ever produced, Harbhajan Singh minced no words as he gave his verdict on the wicket-keeper's role in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024. Was it a no ball or legal delivery? That seems to be the biggest debate since Virat Kohli's debatable dismissal during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday. The point of contention is that whether the full toss by Harshit Rana was above Virat Kohli's waist height or not. Kohli was furious after he was caught and bowled by Rana on that delivery and later was fined 50 per cent of his match fees for showing dissent on umpire's decision.
Punjab Kings continue to reel among the bottom sides of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 after losing yet another contest, to last year's runners-up Gujarat Titans on Sunday. With primary skipper Shikhar Dhawan absent, Sam Curran took over the reins and promoted him at the top of the batting order. But the English all-rounder barely managed to click, scoring just 20 runs from 19 balls. Even with the ball Curran couldn't do much, leaking 18 runs in 2 overs as Gujarat Titans chased down the target of 143 runs with ease.
Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will be playing his 100th game for Mumbai Indians (MI) as they lock horns with Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Monday. In an exciting clash between two batting powerhouses, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will meet Mumbai Indians (MI) for the second time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at their home stadium. This will be the Royals' fifth and final match in Jaipur this season, having won three and lost one in their previous encounters here.
NEW DELHI : Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal roared back to form with a timely hundred against Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League on Monday to strengthen his claim for a place in the India squad for the T20 World Cup in June.
Axar Patel believes that his batting position has been affected by 'Impact Player' rule while Mukesh Kumar wants it abolished if there isn't some meaningful alternate help for the bowlers but Sourav Ganguly thinks that in a 12-a-side game, only the best all-rounders will survive. With Rohit Sharma making it clear that he is not a big fan of 'Impact Player' which is a glorified 12-a-side contests which hampers the growth of Indian all-rounders, more and more top national team players are expressing their displeasure.
Chess legend Garry Kasparov heaped praise on India's 17-year-old Grandmaster D Gukesh after his victory in FIDE Candidates and said that it was an "Indian earthquake in Toronto". The 17-year-old Indian on Monday created history as he won the FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2024, becoming the youngest-ever challenger to the world title after an exciting final round in Toronto. Kasparov took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account and congratulated Gukesh for winning the FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2024 on Monday.
