India have included wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant in their 15-man squad for the Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies and United States in June, the country's cricket board (BCCI) announced on Tuesday.
KL Rahul was excluded while veteran spinner Yuzvendra Chahal made a comeback as India announced their squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian cricket team with Hardik Pandya serving as the vice-captain. Yashasvi Jaiswal was included as the opener option while Shivam Dube was rewarded for his brilliant form in the IPL 2024. Arshdeep Singh was added to the pace department along with Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah. Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson are the wicket-keeping options while Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja will be the all-rounders.
Pacer Jofra Archer will return to international cricket after a hiatus of 14 months after he was named in England's preliminary squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup here on Tuesday. Archer last played for England was in a T20I series against Bangladesh in March 2023. The 29-year-old was England's leading wicket-taker in that series with four scalps from three matches at an economy of 6.63. But since then Archer was forced to sit on the sidelines because of the recurrence of a stress fracture in his right elbow.
