KKR Consider Surprise Pick To Replace Gautam Gambhir As Mentor. It's Not Rahul Dravid

Gautam Gambhir was appointed the new Indian cricket team head coach with Rahul Dravid's tenure coming to an end following the T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. Gambhir was the frontrunner to succeed Dravid for quite some time and his first assignment as head coach will be the upcoming T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka. However, the appointment meant that Kolkata Knight Riders lost their mentor under whom they clinched the IPL 2024 title. There have been multiple reports that assistant coach Abhishek Nayar can join Gambhir in the Team India coaching staff and as a result, KKR are looking to revamp their coaching staff for the 2025 season. While Dravid was rumoured to be one of their choices, a report claims that KKR can be looking at legendary South Africa cricketer Jacques Kallis.

Team India Stranded In Barbados Due To Hurricane. Report Reveals BCCI's Plan

The victorious Indian cricket team remains stranded in Barbados after a Category 4 hurricane hit the Caribbean islands at Bridgetown, Barbados in the wee hours of Monday, delaying its departure back home by at least another day. The Rohit Sharma-led side has stayed put in a five-star hotel since its triumph over South Africa in the T20 World Cup final here on Saturday. As per the forecast, life-threatening winds and storm lashed Barbados and nearby islands on Monday. The country, with a population of close to three lakh, has been in a lockdown since Sunday evening.

James Anderson Takes Seven-Wicket Championship Haul Ahead Of England Exit

England great James Anderson took seven wickets for Lancashire in a County Championship match against Nottinghamshire on Tuesday -- just eight days before his final Test appearance. Anderson, in his first Championship match for over a year, took 7-35 -- the best figures in this season's Championship -- as Nottinghamshire were dismissed for 126 in reply to Lancashire's first innings 353-9 declared. Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon then took his 800th first-class wicket as Nottinghamshire were made to follow-on at Southport, with the visitors 84-2 at stumps on the third day, needing a further 143 runs to avoid an innings defeat.

James Anderson Urges Next Generation To Embrace Test Cricket As Exit Looms

England great James Anderson hopes future players will relish the challenge of Test cricket rather than just go "chasing the dollar" as he prepares to bow out of the five-day game against the West Indies. The series opener at Lord's, starting on Wednesday, will be the Lancashire paceman's 188th and final Test match after a record-breaking career spanning two decades. No fast bowler has taken more than Anderson's 700 Test wickets and only India batting hero Sachin Tendulkar has played more matches (200) in the format.

'Spread The Game Through T20s': Ravi Shastri's Strong Remark Against Test Cricket

Former India cricketer and head coach Ravi Shastri said Test cricket should be restricted to games between six or seven nations, while the responsibility of spreading the game worldwide should happen through the T20 format. Of late, despite making for riveting drama, Test cricket's appeal has been declining, mainly due to the rise of T20 leagues around the world, something which instantly catches the attention of younger audiences. "When you don't have quality, that is when the ratings drop, there are fewer people in the crowd, its meaningless cricket, which is the last thing sport wants. You have 12 Test match teams. Bring it down to six or seven and have a promotion and relegation system."

WV Raman, Other Candidate For Team India's Head Coach Job, Reacts On Gautam Gambhir's Appointment

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday named World Cup-winning opening batter Gautam Gambhir as the head coach of the Indian men's cricket team. It was a much anticipated news as Gambhir was the front runner to replace ex-India head coach Rahul Dravid in the post. Dravid's tenure had come to an end after India's T20 World Cup triumph last month. Gambhir was the not the only candidate for the role of India head coach as the BCCI also interviewed ex-India batter WV Raman. The board eventually selected Gambhir for the post.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty Eyeing 'Great Things' At Paris Olympics

Star Indian men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty has "cracked" the service variation challenge and is focussing on "comprehensive physical and mental conditioning" to ensure peak performance at the upcoming Paris Olympics. Satwik, 23, and Chirag, 26, have been troubled by the wide variations of tumble, spin and wide serves that their opponents, mainly the Koreans and Indonesians, have employed against them during the recent tournaments. Chirag said they have addressed the "new challenge" and remains confident of negotiating it during the Paris Games.
