Gautam Gambhir was appointed the new Indian cricket team head coach with Rahul Dravid's tenure coming to an end following the T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. Gambhir was the frontrunner to succeed Dravid for quite some time and his first assignment as head coach will be the upcoming T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka. However, the appointment meant that Kolkata Knight Riders lost their mentor under whom they clinched the IPL 2024 title. There have been multiple reports that assistant coach Abhishek Nayar can join Gambhir in the Team India coaching staff and as a result, KKR are looking to revamp their coaching staff for the 2025 season. While Dravid was rumoured to be one of their choices, a report claims that KKR can be looking at legendary South Africa cricketer Jacques Kallis.

Gautam Adani, the chairman of Adani Group, has launched #DeshKaGeetAtOlympics to cheer for the Indian atheltes who will be participating in the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris. The Paris Olympics 2024 will get underway on July 26 and will conclude on August 11, 2024. The Olympics will be hosted in Paris and a total of 206 countries will be participating in the event. India will be sending close to 120 athletes to Paris for the upcoming Olympic games in French capital. In order to cheer the Paris-bound Indian athletes, Gautam Adani has launched #DeshKaGeetAtOlympics.

The victorious Indian cricket team remains stranded in Barbados after a Category 4 hurricane hit the Caribbean islands at Bridgetown, Barbados in the wee hours of Monday, delaying its departure back home by at least another day. The Rohit Sharma-led side has stayed put in a five-star hotel since its triumph over South Africa in the T20 World Cup final here on Saturday. As per the forecast, life-threatening winds and storm lashed Barbados and nearby islands on Monday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday named World Cup-winning opening batter Gautam Gambhir as the head coach of the Indian men's cricket team. It was a much anticipated news as Gambhir was the front runner to replace ex-India head coach Rahul Dravid in the post. Dravid's tenure had come to an end after India's T20 World Cup triumph last month. Gambhir was the not the only candidate for the role of India head coach as the BCCI also interviewed ex-India batter WV Raman. The board eventually selected Gambhir for the post.
