India's top woman 400m runner Deepanshi has been suspended by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) after testing positive for anabolic steroids during the recent National Inter-State Athletics Championships, held at Panchkula, Haryana. Deepanshi had secured a silver medal in the event, clocking an impressive 52.01 seconds in the women's 400m final. The 21-year-old athlete had finished just behind Kiran Pahal, who won the gold with a time of 50.92 seconds, setting a new meet record.

Jamshedpur, Shillong To Be New Venues For Durand Cup Beginning In Kolkata On July 27

Domestic season opener Durand Cup football tournament will be held from July 27 to August 31 across four venues with Indian Super League, I-League and other invitational teams competing in it. The 133rd edition of the Asia's oldest tournament will have 43 matches to be played in a round-robin league-cum-knockout format, with the opening match and the final scheduled at the iconic Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK) in Kolkata. The 24 participating teams will be divided into six groups. Eight teams -- group toppers and two best second-placed sides -- will qualify for the knockout stage.

Hardik Pandya rose two places to go level with Sri Lankan star Wanindu Hasaranga as the top-ranked men's T20I all-rounder on Wednesday, as per the ICC official website. The all-rounder, who made a big contribution in the final with the crucial wickets of Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller, had a good tournament with bat and ball and became the first Indian man to reach No.1 in the category. Hardik Pandya made impactful cameos down the order with the bat and made breakthroughs with the ball when the team needed him to.
