Indian badminton star Satwiksairaj Rankireddy had a fanboy moment in Paris ahead of the 2024 Olympics as he met legendary Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal at the Olympics Village. On Monday, Satwiksairaj shared a picture with Nadal on his Instagram story, with him being ecstatic about posing "with the best". The Indian contingent will kickstart its Paris Olympics journey from July 25 onwards, with 112 athletes set to feature in 69 medal events across 16 sports. The Olympics will conclude on August 11. India will look to outdo its tally of seven medals from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which included a gold, two silver, and four bronze medals.

A 117-member strong Indian contingent has reached France to begin their quest of medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. In the last Olympic Games, held in Tokyo in 2021, Team India returned with 7 medals, with Neeraj Chopra's gold in men's javelin throw, arguably being the highlight. While Neeraj is a strong contender to repeat his Tokyo Games heroics in Paris, there are big expectations from some other athletes too, including PV Sindhu, Lovlina Borgohain, Achanta Sharath Kamal, Manu Bhaker, etc.

India batters Harmanpreet Kaur and Shafali Verma have moved up in the ICC Women's T20I Player Rankings after their recent performances in the ongoing Women's Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. Indian captain Harmanpreet and opener Shafali are in joint-11th position in the latest T20I rankings. "I've said it before, workload management for someone like Jasprit (Bumrah) is important. He is one rare bowler that anyone would want. You want him to play important games. The beds, made of cardboard, were reportedly introduced in an attempt by the organisers to prevent intimacy between athletes during their stay in the Olympic Games village. While there has been criticism of the move in the past, with athletes suggesting that their comfort has been compromised by installing fragile beds in their rooms. But, the move was persisted with by the organisers of the Paris Games too.

English cricket chiefs confirmed on Monday they have held talks with Indian Premier League (IPL) owners about acquiring a stake in their domestic Hundred competition. The fourth edition of the controversial 100-balls per side tournament, which features eight specially created teams -- each with a men's and women's side -- rather than the traditional 18 first-class English counties, starts on Tuesday. Its future remains uncertain, with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) looking to secure private investment in a bid to cement its position in the global calendar and boost the finances of the domestic game.

Gautam Gambhir, Team India Arrive In Sri Lanka For T20I Series

The Indian men's cricket team, under new head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav, arrived in Pallekele via Colombo to a warm welcome, with the recently-crowned T20 world champions playfully mingling with fans and giving them some precious moments. The 15-member India team along with the support staff had left Mumbai on Monday after a pre-departure press conference addressed by Gambhir, who took over Rahul Dravid as the national coach, and BCCI's chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar. They arrived the same same day in Pallekele after a short layover in Colombo.
