"Don't Think Gautam Gambhir Has A Natural Captain": Ex New Zealand Star's Verdict On Suryakumar Yadav

Former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris believes that Suryakumar Yadav is only a temporary captaincy option for India, with Gautam Gambhir ideally hoping to build Shubman Gill as the nation's future long-term captain. Suryakumar Yadav - fondly known as SKY - was appointed India's T20I captain by Gambhir after the retirement of Rohit Sharma from the shortest format. Gill was appointed vice-captain in both the T20Is and ODIs for the Sri Lanka tour, prompting Styris to believe that more long-term plans are in play.

"Last Event For Country": Rohan Bopanna Retires From India Colours After Olympics Disappointment

It was not a perfect way to end his India career but Rohan Bopanna would take the early exit from the Paris Olympics on the chin, content that he could live his dream for 22 years. Bopanna and N Sriram Balaji lost to the French duo of Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Gael Monfils in the men's doubles first round under lights at court 12 on Sunday night. An Olympic medal has eluded Indian tennis since Leander Paes' historic singles bronze medal in Atlanta Games in 1996. Paris Olympics 2024: Harmanpreet Singh Turns Saviour Again, India Draw 1-1 vs Argentina

Skipper Harmanpreet Singh rescued India by converting a last-minute penalty corner as they held former champions Argentina to a 1-1 draw in a Pool B hockey match of the Paris Olympics on Monday. India had fluffed as many as nine penalty corners before Harmanpreet found the net, firing the ball into the top corner. Argentina were left to rue the missed penalty stroke by Maico Casella in the 36th minute. It was Lucas Martinez, who had put his side ahead in the 22nd minute with a field goal and Harmanpreet, who had struck against New Zealand in the dying moments, found the net a minute before the final hooter. Harmanpreet did not feel that India fared poorly.

"Quickly Eats Lunch, Always In A Hurry": Arshdeep Singh Reveals Interesting Trait About India Teammate

India's left-arm fast-bowler Arshdeep Singh said leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi is someone who has a very big heart and bowls with a lot of daredevilry in the shortest format. His comments come after Bishnoi's superb spell of 3/26 played a big role in India winning second T20I by seven wickets. "Ravi Bishnoi has a very big heart and bowls with a lot of daredevilry. He's now getting rewards for it. Wherever he's got chances to play games, he has performed very well. Like, he was hit for runs in the first game, but came back strongly to end with a wicket."

Indian women's cricket team head coach Amol Muzumdar said the side didn't play up to their potential in the Women's Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka and lost the record-extending eighth continental title in Dambulla on Sunday. Indian bowlers failed to defend the 166 target against the hosts as Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu (61) and Harshitha Samarawickrama (69*) slammed half-centuries to take the side over the line with eight balls to spare.
