Indian shooting ace Manu Bhaker on Saturday admitted she was a bit nervous during the 25m sports pistol final as she finished fourth to miss out on an unprecedented third individual medal at the Olympics on Saturday. The 22-year-old had earlier bagged two bronze medals, in women's 10m air pistol and 10m air pistol mixed team event partnering Sarabjot Singh. "I got like really nervous about it, but again, I was trying my best to keep calm and to just try to do my best. But that was not enough," Manu said after the event. Manu looked dejected after she aggregated 28 in the eight-shooter final but lost to eventual bronze medallist Veronika Major of Hungary in the shoot-off.
Mathias Boe, the coach of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, on Saturday announced his retirement from coaching following the ace Indian badminton pair's exit from the ongoing Paris Olympics. Satwik and Chirag lost to Malaysia's Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the men's doubles quarterfinals 21-13, 14-21, 16-21 in Paris on Thursday. Boe, a silver medal winner in the London Olympics, had joined Chirag and Satwik as their coach ahead of the Tokyo Olympics. Satwik and Chirag were hot favourites to go the distance in the men's doubles section at Paris, and Boe consoled them.

Sunrisers Hyderabad owner Kavya Maran supported the call to increase the number of player retentions for each team ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. During the IPL owners' meeting at the BCCI Headquarters on Wednesday, Maran explained that each team should have at least six retentions or six RTM (Right To Match) options in order to preserve the core of their respective squads. "We can use it as four retentions and two RTMS, or all six retentions, or all six RTMS and so on. The choice on whether a retention or RTM is used should be with the franchise based on discussions with the player."

Former Indian World Cup-winning skipper MS Dhoni opened up on his relationship with star India batter Virat Kohli, with whom he shared many memorable moments and partnerships over the course of his illustrious career. Dhoni was speaking recently at an event in Hyderabad. Speaking about his relationship with Virat, Dhoni said that whenever they meet, they make sure to have a chat with each other. "We have been colleagues who played for India for a very long time. He (Kohli) has been amongst the best when it comes to world cricket. And the fact that I could bat a lot with him during the middle overs was a lot of fun because we used to take a lot of twos and threes in the game, so it has always been fun. It is not like we meet very often, but whenever we get a chance, we make sure that we go on the side and chat for sometime, we will talk about what is going on, so that is our relationship," said Dhoni.
