The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Friday announced the nomination of hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh as the joint flagbearer with pistol shooter Manu Bhaker at the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. IOA president PT Usha said Sreejesh was both an emotional and popular choice within the IOA leadership, including the Chef de Mission Gagan Narang, and the entire Indian contingent. The Indian men's 4x400m relay team failed to live up to expectations as it finished 10th overall in the heat race to miss a final round spot in the Paris Olympics on Friday. The Indian quartet of Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Muhammed Ajmal, Amoj Jacob and Rajesh Ramesh clocked a season's best of 3 minutes and 0.58 seconds but that was enough only for a seventh-place finish in heat number 2 and 10th overall out of 16 teams. The top three teams in each of the two heats and the next two fastest across the two heats advance to the final.

Suryakumar Yadav To Play Buchi Babu Tournament For Mumbai

India men's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav will be playing the pre-season Buchi Babu Invitational tournament for Mumbai from third round of the league stage, confirmed the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). In a statement issued by Joint Secretary Deepak Patil, MCA said Suryakumar will feature in Mumbai's match against TNCA XI starting on August 27 in Coimbatore. Mumbai, the current Ranji Trophy holders, are placed alongside TNCA XI and Haryana in Group C of the 2024 edition of the Buchi Babu tournament, starting on August 15.
