The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah said that the decision on pacer Mohammed Shami's participation in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy away from home later this year will be taken after the report from National Cricket Academy (NCA). India fast bowler Mohammed Shami is making significant strides in his recovery from an ankle injury that has kept him out of cricket since the ODI World Cup last November. The expectation is that he will be ready to participate in India's home season, starting with a Test series against Bangladesh in September. Shami is currently in the final stages of his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Three teams were disqualified for fielding overage players in the 63rd Subroto Cup sub-junior boys international football tournament which got underway on Monday. Nazareth Model High School, Dima Hasao, Assam; Nehru Public School, Jamui, Bihar and Ultou Government Model High School, Bishnupur, Manipur were the teams disqualified from the tournament. An official announcement to this effect was made by Subroto Mukerjee Sports Education Society, which is under the aegis of the Air Force Sports Control Board.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday interacted with the Indian contingent for the upcoming Paris Paralympics starting from August 28. Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya was also present during the interaction which was conducted on a video call. India is set to field its largest-ever contingent for the Paralympics, with 84 athletes competing in 12 sports, including archery, athletics, badminton, canoeing, cycling, blind judo, powerlifting, rowing, shooting, swimming, table tennis, and taekwondo.
