Yuzvendra Chahal Targets India Return, To Play One-Day And County Cricket For Northamptonshire

India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has joined Northamptonshire for their last fixture in the One-Day Cup and remaining five matches in the County Championship Division Two, the club announced on Wednesday. The 34-year-old Chahal has so far played 72 ODIs and 80 T20Is for India with 217 wickets across both formats to show for his efforts. Northamptonshire said on their website that the 34-year-old Indian spinner, who was a part of the country's victorious campaign in the T20 World Cup, will link up with the squad on Wednesday ahead of their trip to Canterbury to play against Kent.

Hockey India secretary general Bhola Nath Singh said going forward no senior team player will be given the number 16 jersey although it will remain in circulation at the junior level. While lauding the veteran's contribution to the game, Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey said Sreejesh has earned the right to be considered the "God of Modern Indian Hockey".

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has further postponed the verdict on Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat's appeal regarding her disqualification from the women's 50 kg final at the Paris Olympics to August 16. According to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), the verdict, originally scheduled for Tuesday, August 13 at 9:30 pm IST, has been delayed to August 16.

Former Indian all-rounder Dodda Ganesh has been appointed head coach of Kenya's men's cricket team ahead of the Africa Qualifiers for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
