Indian discus thrower Yogesh Kathuniya on Wednesday said he needs to work on his mental strength of his game after clinching yet another silver medal at the Paris Paralympics, marking his fifth consecutive second-place finish since the Tokyo Games three years ago. The 27-year-old from Haryana achieved a season-best throw of 42.22m in the discus throw F-56 on Monday but admitted he has not been at his best mentally. "I have lacked in mental strength. I will have to build up more, just as it was before, in 2022. Since I got injured, due to cervical, it has come down," Kathuniya told PTI during an interaction.

India suffered a setback in the Paralympic Games archery competitions with the Mixed Team Recurve Open category with two-time medallist Harvinder Singh and Pooja Jatyan losing in the shoot-off in the bronze medal match. Harvinder, who won the gold medal in the Men's Individual Recurve Open in Paris, and Pooja missed out on a medal as they went down to Ziva Lavrinc and Dejan Fabcic of Slovenia in a tie-break shoot-out after the two pairs had finished 4-4 at the end of the four-set semifinal clash.

India para-athletes Simran Sharma and Ashok failed to seal their spot at the podium and saw their Paris Paralympics campaign conclude on a heartbreaking note. Simran stormed into the women's 100m T12 final without breaking a sweat. But she was ousted by her opponents and finished last of the four finalists in the event with a timing of 12.31s. Cuba's Omara Durand Elias, the world record-holder, struck gold with a timing of 11.81s. Ukraine's Oksana Boturchuk finished behind Elias with a timing of 12.17s. Germany's Katrin Mueller-Rottgardt settled for the bronze medal after clocking 12.26s.
