Indian Chess Team Does A Rohit Sharma During Olympiad Trophy Lift

Sunday turned out to be a historic day for India as their men's and women's chess teams clinched gold medals in their respective categories in the 45th Chess Olympiad. The men's team defeated Slovenia after D Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi, and R Praggnanadhaa won their respective matches in the 11th and final round match. The women's team beat Azerbaijan 3.5-0.5 to clinch the title. Indian men had earlier won two bronze -- in 2014 and 2022 -- in the tournament. Indian women had won a bronze in the 2022 edition in Chennai.

Opener Sahil Parakh made an aggressive unbeaten hundred as India Under-19 brushed aside Australia by nine wickets on Monday to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match youth ODIs. Parakh's hundred (109 not out, 75b, 14x4, 5x6) helped India achieve the target of 177 in just 22 overs. India had beaten Australia in the first match by seven wickets on Saturday. After the early departure of Rudra Patel (10), Parakh, a 19-year from Mumbai, stitched a fine partnership of 153 with Abhigyan Kundu (53 not out, 50b, 9x4) to take their side home easily.

Team India registered a thumping 280-run victory over Bangladesh in the first Test of the two-match series on Sunday in Chennai. Bangladesh were chasing a mammoth target of 515 and on the fourth day, they got bundled out for 234. All-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin was the star performer as he first scored a powerful century with the bat and then went on to register a memorable six-wicket haul. With this win, India have gained an unassailable 1-0 lead in the series.

For the unversed, a video of Siraj had gone viral a few years back, in which the pacer was seen flagging fake Instagram accounts started on his name. "Mohammed Siraj Official Instagram page hai. Baaki sab jo hai vo fake hain (All the others are fake)," Siraj was heard as saying in the video.
