Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar isn't on board with how the ICC Champions Trophy saga has dragged on. A hybrid model has reportedly been agreed between all parties, though the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made a few demands to give their stamp of approval. PCB, who hold the hosting rights for the tournament, were hell-bent on organising the entire tournament in Pakistan but the recent meeting with ICC has seen them soften their stance. However, PCB has also reportedly demanded all ICC events, to be held in India, be organised in a hybrid model too.

Indian challenger D Gukesh held defending champion Ding Liren of China to a draw with black pieces in an intense sixth game of the World Chess Championship to remain level on points in Singapore on Sunday. The third draw in a row left both players on an identical tally of 3 points apiece, still shy of 4.5 more points in order to win the championship. The two players signed peace after 46 moves. It was the fourth draw of the match. It remains to be seen what strategy the players would opt for as the match moves towards the half-way mark.

Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, the main architects behind India's massive 295-run win over Australia in the 1st Test in Perth, skipped the two-day pink-ball practice match against Prime Minister's XI. It was the third draw of the match. The 18-year-old Gukesh is the youngest ever challenger for the crown and had won the third game on Wednesday. The 32-year-old Liren had won the opening game before the two played out draws in the second and fourth game.

India Hammer South Korea 8-1 To Top Pool A In Junior Asia Cup Hockey, Face Malaysia In Semi-Final

Already through to the semifinals, defending champions India thrashed South Korea 8-1, with Arshdeep Singh scoring a hat-trick, to top Pool A with an all-win record in the men's Junior Asia Cup hockey tournament in Muscat on Sunday. Arshdeep struck in the 9th, 44th and 60th minute while Araijeet Singh Hundal (3rd, 37th) struck a brace. Gurjot Singh (11th), Rosan Kujur (27th) and Rohit (30th) scored a goal each for India in their last pool match. Kim Taehyeon (18th) scored the lone goal for Korea.

Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu cruised into the women's singles final with a dominating straight-game win over compatriot Unnati Hooda at the Syed Modi International Super 300 badminton tournament in Lucknow on Saturday. Sindhu, the top seed, sailed past Hooda 21-12 21-9 in just 36 minutes in the first women's singles semifinal. Sindhu will next take on the winner of the other semifinal between Thailand's Lalinrat Chaiwan and Luo Yu Wu of China. Team India suffered a 3-8 defeat against the United States in their opening match of the first stage of the ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2024 table tennis tournament in Chengdu, People's Republic of China, on Sunday. With seasoned players such as Manika Batra, Sreeja Akula, Sharath Kamal, and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran opting out of the tournament, a young Indian table tennis team is representing the nation in Chengdu. In the mixed doubles opener, India's Snehit Suravajjula and Poymantee Baisya lost 2-1 (12-10, 11-8, 4-11) to the USA's Naresh Nandan and Ke Tiffany.
