World Athletics Championships Live Updates: Reigning Tokyo Olympics champion and star Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra will be aiming for his maiden World Athletics Championships gold medal in the final at Budapest, Hungary. India's DP Manu and Kishore Jena will also be competing in the main event that will begin on 11:45 pm.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated athletes Muhammed Anas, Amoj Jacob, Muhammed Ajmal and Rajesh Ramesh for qualifying for the final of the men's 4X400 m relay team event at the ongoing World Athletics Championships and setting a new Asian record in the process. Indian men's 4x400m relay team qualified for the final with a new Asian record at the ongoing World Athletics Championships 2023 in Budapest, Hungary. "Incredible teamwork at the World Athletics Championships! Anas, Amoj, Rajesh Ramesh and Muhammed Ajmal sprinted into the finals, setting a new Asian Record in the M 4X400m Relay. This will be remembered as a triumphant comeback, truly historical for Indian athletics," tweeted PM Modi.
Neeraj Chopra, DP Manu, Kishore Jena, Parul Chaudhary and the men's 4x400 relay team will be in action for India on Day 9 of the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Current Olympic champion in men's javelin throw - Neeraj Chopra - booked his spot in the finals as well as the Paris Olympics with a throw of 88.77m. Manu and Jena also qualified for the final of the men's javelin event along with Neeraj Parul Chaudhary will take part in the women's 3000m steeplechase final with her personal best timing of 9:24.29 in the Heat 2.
The Indian men's 4x400m relay team will be competing in the final of the World Athletics Championships 2023 in Budapest, Hungary on Sunday (Monday in India). The team qualified for the final with a new Asian record. The quartet of Muhammed Anas, Amoj Jacob, Muhammed Ajmal and Rajesh Ramesh clocked 2:59:05 to finish second overall in the heats at Budapest. The Indian men's 4x400m relay team broke the Asian record of 2:59.51, which was set by Japan at the world championships in Oregon last year.

Tokyo Olympics champion and star Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra will aim to clinch his first World Athletics Championships gold medal when he competes in the final of the men's javelin throw event at Budapest, Hungary on Sunday. On Friday, India's 'Golden Boy' qualified for the final featuring 12 players in style with a season-best throw of 88.77 m, as per Olympics.com. Not only Chopra but DP Manu (81.31m) and Kishore Jena (80.55m) also advanced to the same event as three Indians qualified the final of an event in the World Championships for the first time ever.
