RABAT: King Mohammed VI of Morocco announced on Tuesday that his country had joined the bid by Spain and Portugal to host the centenary World Cup in 2030. The announcement means that war-torn Ukraine is likely to be dropped from the bid. King Mohammed made the announcement in a message delivered as he was named the winner of the African Football Confederation 2022 Award of Excellence in Kigali, where world governing body FIFA is holding its annual congress.

When Robert Milkins arrived at the Gibraltar Open 11 months ago he was at an all-time low, his main ambition was simply to win a couple of matches to pay the mortgage. Milkins, a professional since 1995, had won three matches all season. He had earned just £13,250 during the campaign and knew he would likely have to give most of that back to the disciplinary committee after having spent his 46th birthday getting his stomach pumped following a drunken night at the Turkish Masters.
Robert Milkins beat former world champion Shaun Murphy 9-7 to win the Welsh Open and pocket a £250,000 (€258,704) payday in Llandudno. The 46-year-old from Gloucester claimed the first prize of £80,000 (€90,000) and a £150,000 (€168,700) bonus for topping the BetVictor Series ranking list, which has run across eight events since last July. "I can't even speak, it's unreal really," Milkins, who won his first ranking title in 27 years as a professional in the Gibraltar Open 11 months ago, said on Eurosport.
Eurosport experts Ronnie O'Sullivan and Jimmy White have expressed their admiration for the «unorthodox» Robert Milkins as he competed against Shaun Murphy in the Welsh Open final. After 27 years as a professional, the 46-year-old won his first ranking title at the 2022 Gibraltar Open, becoming the oldest first-time winner of a ranking event since Doug Mountjoy at the 1988 UK Championship. He has otherwise been something of a journeyman on the World Snooker Tour.
