Achimota Golf Club, Ghana, will host this year’s edition of the MTN Invitational Golf tournament on August 20. The tournament is the first and only MTN-sponsored golf event for the year.

Commonwealth Games, Day 1 Live Updates: India's Reeth Tennison and Sreeja Akula have taken the one first game against Lailaa Edwards and Danisha Patel of South Africa. Table tennis event is also about to get underway and first up is women's team event which will see Manika Batra, Sreeja Akula, Reeth Rishya, and Diya Chitale squaring off against South Africa. Olympic medalist PV Sindhu and the men's hockey team captain Manpreet Singh led the Indian contingent as the Commonwealth Games 2022 opening ceremony that was held in Alexander Stadium in Birmingham on Thursday. Neeraj Chopra was the designated flag bearer for India in the opening ceremony, but he suffered an injury during the World Athletics Championships, where he won the silver medal. He had to pull out of CWG 2022 due to the injury.

The Indian contingent will be in action on Day 1 of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. The Indian athletes will participate in singles, pairs and team events at the multi-disciplined games. India will miss star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who pulled out of the tournament due to a thigh issue. India women's cricket team will also be action on Day 1 as they face gold medal favourites Australia in a Group A game at Edgbaston. The women's hockey team will also open their campaign with a Group game against minnows Ghana.
