Star Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra added another feather to his storied cap on Tuesday, setting a new national record with a throw of 89.30 metres at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland. It was Neeraj's first competitive event since winning a historic gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Neeraj's record-breaking throw helped him finish second in the competition. Oliver Helander, the event's local favourite, topped the list with a throw of 89.83 metres.

Neeraj Chopra, the India's Olympic gold medallist, set a new national record and finished with a silver medal with a throw of 89.30 metres at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland. Neeraj bettered his own previous national record of 88.07 meters which he had set in Patiala in March last year. "Golden Great @Neeraj_chopra1 does it again! Chopra's earlier national record was 88.07m which he had set in Patiala in March last year. He had won the Tokyo Olympics gold with a throw of 87.58m on August 7, 2021. Neeraj Chopra is India's first ever Olympic gold medallist in athletics and only the second individual gold medallist at Olympics.
