WIMBLEDON, London: Marketa Vondrousova became the lowest-ranked and first unseeded woman to win Wimbledon, defeating 2022 runner-up Ons Jabeur 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday. Vondrousova is a 24-year-old left-hander from the Czech Republic who is ranked 42nd. She was the first unseeded woman to even reach the final at the All England Club in 60 years.

Marketa Vondrousova defeated favourite Ons Jabeur in straight sets to make history as the first unseeded women's singles champion at Wimbledon.
Marketa Vondrousova was victorious as she triumphed at Wimbledon 2023, while Ons Jabeur came up short once again in her third Grand Slam final in a 6-4 6-4 defeat. The unseeded Czech recovered from a slow start to take the opening set in decisive fashion, and despite a fleeting setback, she held her composure admirably to close out the victory and claim her maiden Grand Slam title.
History will be made on women’s final day as Tunisian Ons Jabeur takes on Czech Marketa Vondrousova.
