The wait was finally over for India's star batter Rinku Singh after he was named in the playing XI against Ireland for the first T20I of the three-match series. Rinku's India debut was always around the corner ever since his impressive performance in the Indian Premier League 2023, playing for Kolkata Knight Riders. Friday turned out to be a special day for Rinku as he was handed an India cap to see his dream come true. Meanwhile, right-arm pacer Prasidh Krishna, who has already played 14 ODI matches for India, also made his T20I debut along with Rinku.
India captain Jasprit Bumrah only needed two balls to announce his return to international cricket in style. The star bowler, who has been out of action since September last year, struck twice in his first over, dismissing Andy Balbirnie (4) and Lorcan Tucker (0). After being hit for a boundary on his very first delivery, Bumrah rattled Balbirnie's stumps on the very next delivery. On the penultimate delivery of the over, Tucker had no response for Bumrah's pace as he mistimed his scoop and was caught by Sanju Samson.

Young India batter Shubman Gill was on the receiving end of some harsh criticism after failing to score a big knock in the first three T20Is against West Indies. Some had even suggested that the young opener is not a T20 player. However, Gill silenced his critics in the penultimate game of the series, smashing 77 off 47 balls as India won the game by nine wickets. Impressed with his knock in the fourth T20I, former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel hit back at Gill's critics.
Young Indian batter Tilak Varma said that he wants to perform well, give his 100 per cent and focus on his basics and strengths during his first-ever international series against West Indies. Tilak is part of the T20I Indian side which is playing the five-match series against West Indies at the Caribbean. The second T20I will take place on Sunday in Guyana. India is trailing 0-1 in the series. Tilak had scored a solid 39 in 22 balls in his debut T20I.
