LOS ANGELES (AP) — Brandon Ingram scored 30 points and the New Orleans Pelicans overcame a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat the depleted Los Angeles Clippers 105-101 in a play-in Friday night and earn the West’s No. 8 seed for the playoffs.
Young SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer Umran Malik has put on an exciting display of fast bowling ever since his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut last year. This year too, he was among the few positives for SRH as they got off to a slow start in IPL 2022. In their win against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday, he put on a brilliant display of raw pace, but also added good line and lengths to help restrict the opposition to 175/8. He picked two wickets and gave away just 27 runs in his four overs, and would be especially pleased with how he got rid of KKR captain Shreyas Iyer.
Shane Watson has picked Virat Kohli as the best batter among the 'big five' in Test cricket, preferring to not read much into the Indian maestro's failure to score a hundred since November 2019. As per Watson's list, the former India captain has pipped the likes of Steve Smith, Kane Williamson, Joe Root and Babar Azam. "In Test match cricket, I am always going to say Virat Kohli," Watson said when asked by Isa Guha who he thought is the best Test batter in the world, in his latest episode of the ICC Review. "It's nearly superhuman, what he is able to do because he has such high intensity every time he goes out to play," Watson added. While Kohli has slipped to 10th on the ICC rankings, the Indian great continues to hold a remarkable Test batting record. He has scored 27 Test centuries and 28 half-centuries and currently has a Test batting average of just under 50.
ON THE FINAL night of the All-Star break, New Orleans Pelicans guard CJ McCollum, forward Brandon Ingram and coach Willie Green went out for a small, private dinner at FLINT by Baltaire in Phoenix.
Abhishek scores 75, TN boys Natarajan, Washington shine with the ball to help SRH hand Super Kings 4th straight lossThis is the year of change in the IPL. Old order is giving way to the new and Chennai Super Kings - the champions of 'old-school' T20 - are bearing the brunt. AS IT HAPPENED | SCORECARD | POINTS TABLEThe other day it was Ayush Badoni, then it was Vaibhav Arora, and on Saturday it was Sunrisers Hyderabad's Abhishek Sharma who handed CSK their fourth loss in a row - the first time since 2010. Abhishek, a 21-year-old left-hander, played an innings of pure class on a pitch where shot-making wasn't easy as SRH ran away to an eight-wicket win with 16 balls to spare. The back-of-the-length delivery on this DY Patil pitch was stopping just a bit and when CSK managed 154-7, one felt it would shape up into quite a game.
Chennai Super Kings. Three losses in a row at the beginning of the IPL is unchartered territory for the four-time champions and now they face fellow strugglers Sunrisers Hyderabad who have also lost both their games so far. As SRH try to come to terms with the fact that they don't have a Rashid Khan to fall back upon anymore, CSK's problems have been manifold - injuries to key pacers and lack of form of top-order being the discordant notes. While Dwayne Bravo, Dwaine Pretorius and Chris Jordan have looked decent at the death, it's the lack of incisiveness of the attack early on that is hurting the franchise. With injured Deepak Chahar still not available, CSK are desperate to find someone who can give them the early wickets, but no one has really looked threatening.
Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad will face off in the first game of Saturday's double-header in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Both teams have got off to a horror start this year and are yet to win a match. Defending champions CSK suffered defeats against Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings, while SRH lost to Rajasthan Royals in their first match and then LSG. SRH are bottom of the table, while CSK are 8th, with win-less Mumbai Indians sandwiched between them. CSK are playing this season under a new captain, Ravindra Jadeja, and will be hoping to get their season back on track. SRH, meanwhile, had a poor outing last season and would want to turn the tide around as soon as possible. They will be hoping for their overseas stars like Kane Williamson, Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram to step up.
