Madison Keys Ousts Elena Rybakina To Set Quarterfinal Meeting With Elina Svitolina

No. 19 seed American Madison Keys moved into the Australian Open quarterfinals for the fourth time in her career by ousting No. 6 seed Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan on Monday. Keys shook off a second-set lull to topple 2023 Australian Open finalist Rybakina 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 in 1 hour and 49 minutes. The American is now a win away from reaching her third semifinal at Melbourne Park, having made the final four in 2015 and 2022. Keys, who won the WTA 500 title in Adelaide a week ago, is now on a nine-match winning streak, and she is the tour leader in match wins so far this year with an overall win-loss record of 10-1 in 2025, according to WTA stats.

Djokovic boycotts on-court interviews at Australian Open

Novak Djokovic certainly knows how to make a rather dull day of Grand Slam tennis end with a bang. The 10-time champion has launched a boycott of on-court interviews at the Australian Open until he receives an apology from host broadcaster Channel 9 over a segment which he says: “Made a mockery of Serbian fans and also made insulting and offensive comments towards me.”   On Friday, Channel 9 host Tony Jones was broadcasting in front of a group of Novak Djokovic supporters at Melbourne Park.   “Welcome back to Melbourne Park, where you can see the Novak Djokovic fans, they’re in full voice,” Jones said. “The chants are quite extraordinary.” He then turned round to face them and pantomimed some sledging chants of his own: “Novak, he’s overrated,” Jones sang. “Novak’s a has-been. Novak, kick him out.   “Boy, I’m glad they can’t hear me. Anyway, let’s get onto the tennis.” Culled from BBCSports

Baltimore Ravens refuse to blame Mark Andrews for loss - ESPN

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — After another frustrating finish in the playoffs, a ticked-off Lamar Jackson refused to blame tight end Mark Andrews' dropped pass on a late 2-point conversion attempt for the Baltimore Ravens' 27-25 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Sunday's AFC divisional game.

No Sweat, No Shake As Elina Svitolina Cruises Into Australian Open Quarter-Finals

Elina Svitolina delivered a stunning first-set comeback before overwhelming Veronika Kudermetova Monday to reach the Australian Open quarter-finals, but the Ukrainian did not shake hands with her Russian opponent. Svitolina, the 28th seed, followed up her shock win over world number four Jasmine Paolini in the third round with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over the world number 75 on Rod Laver Arena. It put her into the last eight at Melbourne Park for a third time, but her first since 2019. "That was a lifetime ago," said Svitolina after wrapping up the match in 1hr 23min. "You know, so many things happen -- having a daughter, Sky, then surgery as well. I'm really pleased with the performance throughout this tournament."

Novak Djokovic Receives On-Air Apology From TV Host Over 'Insulting' Remarks During Australian Open

A leading TV presenter apologised on-air Monday to Novak Djokovic after mocking the 24-time Grand Slam winner and his Serbian fans at the Australian Open, saying it was meant to be banter. The 37-year-old tennis great refused to do a routine on-court interview after beating Jiri Lehecka in three sets on Rod Laver Arena to make the quarter-finals on Sunday evening. Afterwards he said it was in protest at Tony Jones, a top sports presenter with host broadcaster Channel Nine, who he accused of "insulting and offensive comments" towards him and Serbian fans. Djokovic said he would boycott interviews with the TV station until he got an apology. "The comments were made on the news on the Friday night, which I considered to be banter. I considered it to be humour, which is consistent with most things I do," Jones said on Monday.
