Kagiso Rabada's premature departure from the Indian Premier League (IPL) might be a nervous jolt to the Proteas' system in their build-up to the T20 World Cup, but his apparent leg injury won't affect his availability for the showpiece tournament in the USA and Caribbean next month.
South Africa pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada has returned home from the Indian Premier League due to a lower limb soft tissue infection, the country's cricket board said on Wednesday. Rabada represented Punjab Kings in the IPL, taking 11 wickets in as many games. Punjab have already been eliminated from the IPL play-offs race and will play their last league game on May 19. "The 28-year-old consulted a specialist on arrival in South Africa and is being closely monitored by the Cricket South Africa medical team," said Cricket South Africa (CSA) in a statement.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)'s IPL 2024 playoff hopes took a hit on Friday after the defeat at the hands of Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Chasing a target of 232, CSK were restricted to 196/8 in 20 overs, despite half-centuries from Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali. Former skipper MS Dhoni came out to bat at no 8 to give the crowd some much needed entertainment, smashing an unbeaten 26 off just 11 balls.
