Sam Burns successfully defended his Valspar Championship title, defeating Davis Riley in a playoff, while Shane Lowry registered a third consecutive round of 68 to finish tied-12th.
PGA Tour rookie Davis Riley shot a blazing 62 on Saturday to vault to the top of the leaderboard at the Valspar Championship in Florida. Davis sits at 18 under par and holds a two-shot lead over Matthew NeSmith, who shot 69 one day after matching the Valspar single-round mark record with a 61 on Friday.
Davis Riley was expecting a big stage Saturday in his rookie year on the PGA Tour. He was playing with fellow Alabama alum and close friend Justin Thomas, both of them in the mix on the weekend in the Valspar Championship.
Davis Riley posted the lowest round of his PGA Tour career to take a two-shot lead over Matthew NeSmith into the final round of the Valspar Championship, with Justin Thomas lurking in third spot.
