Indian compound archer Jyothi Surekha Vennam displayed some flawless shooting as she grabbed individual and mixed team gold medals in the World Cup Stage 1 here on Saturday. Jyothi and her debutant partner Ojas Deotale narrowly missed a world record when they tamed Chinese Taipei 159-154 in the compound mixed team final to open India's account with a gold in the morning session. While Jyothi had all perfect 10s in her eight arrows, the 20-year-old Deotale missed the centre once, in the final end when he shot a 9. In Colombia, a country where the law of silence reigns, Moreno's investigations were followed by more than 50,000 people on Facebook. He also regularly received death threats. Six months ago, he got in touch with the Paris-based investigative consortium Forbidden Stories, telling the group he wanted his investigations to be continued and published if anything happened to him. A few days, later, on October 16, 2022, he was assassinated by a hitman.

Meanwhile, the Colombian journalist Rafael Moreno was killed last October while reporting on corruption in the country. Since his death, a group of journalists have taken up his cause, launching "Project Rafael" as part of a nonprofit group called Forbidden Stories which is dedicated to carrying on the work of journalists who have been killed or threatened. FRANCE 24 is part of this effort. Our Bogota correspondents report on Moreno's work and legacy.
On October 16, 2022, Moreno was shot dead in a grocery store in northern Colombia. A few days before his death, the Colombian journalist had contacted Forbidden Stories, an international consortium of investigative journalists offering to protect the work of colleagues under threat. Moreno shared the threats he received on a daily basis and decided to share all the investigations he was working on.
