In a career spanning over a decade, Kidambi Srikanth has seen it all. The highs of four Superseries titles in a calendar year, the ecstasy of a Commonwealth Games silver at Gold Coast, a brief world number one ranking stint, the lows of 23 first-round exits, and the pain of missing out of the Tokyo Olympics -- all within a little over four years of his career. Now a much "matured and experienced" Srikanth says he is just trying to create a "better version" of himself every time he takes the court.
England are preparing for their first European Championship final since 2009 thanks to a stunning 4-0 win over Sweden at Bramall Lane.

Commonwealth Games begins this Thursday in Birmingham. The sporting action gets underway on Friday. India have established themselves as one of the powerhouses in the quadrennial tournament over the editions with regular top-four finishes since the turn of the 21st century. This time too, the Indian contingent, with more than 200 athletes, will be aiming to carry forward the legacy. The news of Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra pulling out from the Games came as a shock for India and his fans, with the javelin thrower being a top medal contender for the country. Chopra had just won a historic silver at the 2022 World Athletics Championships, and has broken his personal best/national record twice in the last one month or so. Despite the setback, there are quite a few athletes in the Indian camp who are considered as big medal contenders in their respective disciplines. TimesofIndia.com here looks at five of the top Indian medal contenders, who are expected to receive laurels for the country at the Games. By the time this interview turns into cold print, Sathiyan and his energy will be at the Commonwealth Games Athletes Village in Birmingham to tick boxes -- most for the team and one personal. At world rank No. 35, Sathiyan, the highest-ranked Indian in singles, will be in Birmingham with renewed hopes of fetching himself a singles medal and carrying India's 2018 momentum into the 2022 Games. At Gold Coast four years ago, India finished as the best table tennis nation with eight medals, including three gold medals, led by Manika Batra's historic singles triumph. It will be a tough, though not impossible, task to match that medal haul. With an almost similar cast as 2018, led by Achanta Sharath Kamal, Manika and Sathiyan, the Indian TT contingent will be "one of the favourites" at its happy hunting ground -- the CWG. But as Sathiyan says in this chat with TimesofIndia.com, being one the favourites brings a different kind of pressure.
Lovlina Borgohain confirmed on Wednesday that her coach Sandhya Gurung has got the accreditation for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, starting July 28 in Birmingham. The development comes a day after the boxer's viral social media post regarding the issue. The Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist had on Monday claimed that she has faced "mental harassment" due to the constant removal of her coaches, who helped her win an Olympic medal, from her training process and were later allowed entry after several requests. She added that her coach Sandhya Gurung had not been allowed entry into the Commonwealth Games Village.
