NEW YORK: FIFA president Gianni Infantino says he expects soccer to be the biggest sport in North America in time for the 2026 World Cup as the host cities for the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico were announced on Thursday (Jun 16).
The host cities for the 2026 World Cup have been announced by FIFA. The tournament will be the first to see 48 countries compete – an expansion from 32 – and will see 60 matches contested across three nations — Canada, Mexico, and the United States – across 16 cities.
