Mumbai began Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy final at 248/5, but were soon down to six wickets without any more runs added as pacer Gaurav Yadav trapped Shams Mulani lbw for his overnight score of 12 off just the second delivery of the day. He then castled Tanush Kotian for 15 to leave Mumbai seven down. The prolific Sarfaraz Khan, however, went on to score his 8th First Class century and was the last batter to fall. For Sussex, Pujara scored a double century in his first match and then went on to score another 200-plus score. He also scored two centuries.
Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan was overcome with emotion as he reached his century on Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy final against Madhya Pradesh. The 24-year-old was pumped up and emotional as he celebrated his century and was seen in tears as he took his helmet off. He capped off his celebration with a Shikhar Dhawan-style thigh-five. It was his fourth century of the season and his eighth First Class century overall. The Board of Control for Cricket in India took to Twitter to share a video of the moment Sarfaraz reached his century.
The 34-year-old Pujara, who was left out of India's home Test series against Sri Lanka earlier this year, forced his way back into the national team for the fifth Test against England after scoring 720 runs in just 5 matches with an outstanding average of 120 for Sussex. While in the Ranji Trophy, Pujara scored an 83-ball 91 against Mumbai, he hit four centuries, including two double centuries for Sussex in Division Two County Championships. "It's about playing as many first-class games as possible and for me, that experience was very important. When you want to get back into form, when you want to find your rhythm, when you have that concentration, it is important to play some long innings" Pujara told BCCI TV.
