Sarfaraz Khan has made it difficult for the selectors to ignore him when they pick the squad for the Test series against Sri Lanka in the near future. Nothing — not even a pandemic which halted the Ranji Trophy for two years —seems to have put a brake on this unstoppable ‘run-machine’ who seems to be scoring ‘daddy hundreds’ in the tournament for fun. On Friday, Sarfaraz launched into the 2021-22 season in grand style, slamming a magnificent 275 (401b, 30x4, 7x6) to help Mumbai post a formidable 544 for seven declared against Saurashtra on Day Two of their Ranji Trophy Group D clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Sakibul Gani smashed an astounding 341 in the Ranji Trophy Plate Group match against Mizoram here on Friday to break the world record for the highest individual score on first-class debut. The 22-year-old, who was unbeaten on 136 overnight, toyed with the lacklustre Mizoram attack hitting 56 fours and two sixes to get to 341 off 405 balls. Madhya Pradesh's Ajay Rohera earlier held the record for the highest individual score on debut when he had scored an unbeaten 267 against Hyderabad in Indore in December 2018.
Sarfaraz Khan hit a stroke-filled 275 to propel Mumbai to a mammoth 544/7 and put 41-time champions in a commanding position on the second day of their Elite Group D Ranji Trophy game against defending champions Saurashtra here on Friday. Sarfaraz, who continued from his overnight score on 121, took the Saurashtra attack to cleaners and hammered 30 boundaries and seven maximum in his 401-ball innings. The 24-year-old was at his best at the Narendra Modi stadium as he spared no bowler.
The Asian Football Confederation's (AFC) digital channels witnessed unprecedented growth during the January 20 to February 6 tournament in Mumbai and Pune as the statistics grew by a staggering 5324 per cent as compared to the 2018 edition in Jordan. "The AFC Women's Asian Cup India 2022 has left an indelible digital footprint, with the engagement and coverage of the showpiece surpassing the previous edition and soaring to an all-time high record," the AFC said in a statement.

Jaffer has backed under-pressure Virat Kohli, despite the India team player going through a rough patch in the home series against the West Indies. Jaffer added that like Kohli, every cricketer goes through this phase. Kohli's lean patch continued in the ODI series against the touring side as he had scores of 8, 18 and 0 in the three matches and he looked far from his sublime self.
Bihar batted Sakibul Gani scripted history on Friday as he became the first player to score triple century on first-class debut. Gani achieved the feat in the ongoing Ranji Trophy Plate Group match against Mizoram at Jadavpur University Campus 2nd Ground in Kolkata.
