"Not Looked The Same Player": Former India Cricketer Expresses Concern Over KKR Batter's Form In IPL 2022

After taking the Indian Premier League (IPL) by storm last season with the bat as well as with the ball in hand, Venkatesh Iyer is yet to announce himself in IPL 2022. According to former India cricketer Aakash Chopra, Iyer "has not looked the same player". In the tournament opener against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 26, Iyer didn't get an opportunity to bowl, while on the other hand, he opened with Ajinkya Rahane and scored 16 runs off 16 balls before getting out to Dwayne Bravo. In KKR's second game vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Iyer failed with the bat again and was dismissed for 10 runs off 14 deliveries. He returned with the ball in hand in the 19th over where he conceded 10 runs.

IPL 2022: Simon Doull Answers Weighs In On Kolkata Knight Rider's Fifth Bowler Issue

After beginning their IPL 2021 campaign with a victory in the season opener, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) suffered a narrow defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Match 6 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday. Losing by three wickets and four balls to spare, RCB had to rely on some calm batting by Dinesh Karthuk and Harshal Patel to seal a win. Chasing a target of 129 runs, RCB reached 132 for seven in 19.2 overs. During the second innings, fans and experts spotted KKR captain Shreyas Iyer's dilemma in finding a fifth bowler. All-rounder Andre Russell, who is battling fitness issues, completed only 2.2 overs and Venkatesh Iyer bowled a solitary over. Speaking on Cricbuzz, former cricketer and commentator Simon Doull analysed the issue and also shared a solution for Iyer.

MS Dhoni has started well with the bat for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. The wicketkeeper-batter stepped down from CSK's captaincy ahead of the IPL 2022 season opener and handed over the role to Ravindra Jadeja. IPL 2022 began on March 26 and Dhoni registered an unbeaten half-century at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Despite his unbeaten knock of 50 runs off 38 balls, the veteran couldn't prevent a defeat for CSK with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) winning by six wickets. Once again, the 40-year-old showcased his batting form in Match 7 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Coming in to bat in the 19th over, the 2011 ODI World Cup smashed the first delivery for a monstrous six.
