IPL 2022: Rajasthan Royals' bowlers rise to the occasion in thrilling win over Lucknow Super Giants

Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) win. While other pacers kept the pressure on, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal with his four-wicket haul once again weaved his magic, putting Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to the sword and lead the Royals to a three-run win in Mumbai on Sunday. Marcus Stoinis’ cameo of an unbeaten 38 off 17 balls threatened to take the game away from the Royals, but young pacer Kuldeep Sen, entrusted with the responsibility to defend 15, in the last over, kept his nerves and sealed the deal for his team.

Nari Contractor back home after skull surgery

Nari Contractor on Sunday returned home, much to the relief of his family, after being discharged from the hospital, where he successfully underwent a major operation to remove the titanium plate that was inserted in his skull 60 years ago following an injury during the 1961-62 tour of the West Indies. The plate, which was inserted after Contractor suffered a life-threatening injury on his head when he was hit by a bouncer by West Indies pacer Charlie Griffith during a tour match against Barbados at Bridgetown during India’s 1961-62 tour of the Caribbean, was removed in an operation at the Reliance Foundation Hospital on Wednesday.

IPL 2022, SRH vs GT: Sunrisers Hyderabad look to derail formidable Gujarat Titans

Indian Premier League (IPL) season so far. The big guns are yet to register a point. New entrants are setting the early pace. But all concerned know that it’s a very long tournament and the ability to sustain momentum is what matters at the business end of the competition. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) would’ve heaved a huge sigh of relief after their convincing eight-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday; and with the monkey of the first win off their back, they would now aim to be consistent like pace-setters Gujarat Titans (GT), whom they play at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Monday. After a poor start against Rajasthan Royals, the Sunrisers attack pulled things back against Lucknow Super Giants, especially Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Washington Sundar and T Natarajan, only to see their batsmen fall short by 12 runs; and the SRH camp would be happy with the gradual improvement that led to a collective performance against CSK.

IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals' charge stuns Kolkata Knight Riders

Delhi Capitals' (DC) openers that literally ended the Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) challenge at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. Prithvi Shaw and David Warner made a mockery of the strong KKR bowling unit after Shreyas Iyer won the toss and put the rivals in to bat. Although KKR did pull things back a bit in the middle overs, Shardul Thakur (29* off 11 balls) and Axar Patel (22* off 14 balls) added 49 runs off just 3.2 overs in the end to help DC put up 215 for 5, the highest total in this IPL so far.
