Spanish teenager Carlos Alcaraz completed "the best week of my life" after thrashing world No 3 Alexander Zverev in the Madrid Open final on Sunday to win his second ATP Masters 1000 title.

Sonriente y tranquilo, Carlos Alcaraz atendió a los medios de comunicación pasadas las diez de la noche, tres horas (6-3, 6-1) y convertirse en el campeón más joven de la historia del Mutua Madrid Open: 19 años y tres días. Acompañado por el trofeo de campeón, Carlitos, como le gusta que le llamen —”Carlos me recuerda a cuando mis padres me echaban la bronca, me suena muy serio”, dijo entre risas—, desveló que el día de la final no comenzó de la mejor manera posible: “Por la mañana me levanté con el tobillo hinchado y con una ampolla por la caída que sufrí contra Rafa [en cuartos de final]. Alcaraz looked dangerous throughout his run at the claycourt tournament, where he stunned world number one Novak Djokovic and 21-times major winner Rafa Nadal before cruising past world number three Zverev in the title clash.
