Rafa Nadal will miss next week's Italian Open as he has yet to regain full fitness from the hip injury he sustained at January's Australian Open, casting further doubt over his participation in the French Open.

Rafael Nadal’s hopes of being fit for the French Open have suffered a fresh blow after he announced his withdrawal from the Rome Masters. Nadal – a 10-time champion of the competition – has not been in action since losing in the Australian Open second round due to a hip injury.
