New baseball league announces Dubai International Stadium as official venue for inaugural showcase
DUBAI: The United International Baseball League, the first-ever professional baseball competition created for India, Pakistan and the Middle East, has signed a partnership with Dubai Sports City, which will see Dubai International Stadium as the official venue for the UIBL’s inaugural showcase from Feb. 23 to March 5, 2023.

Chandrakant Pandit, the most celebrated coach in the Indian domestic circuit, was on Wednesday appointed Kolkata Knight Riders' head coach for the upcoming IPL season. Pandit replaces Brendon McCullum, who is now the head coach of the England Test side. Pandit recently guided Madhya Pradesh to their maiden Ranji Trophy title, having won the national championship multiple times with Mumbai and Vidarbha. Known to work wonders with unheralded domestic teams, this will be the former India wicketkeeper's first big assignment at the elite level.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Vice-President Rajeev Shukla said on Tuesday that the board does not have any policy that allows Indian players to participate in foreign cricket leagues. The remarks came in the wake of rumours about former Indian captain and current Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni mentoring Johannesburg Super Kings, a side owned by his franchise for the inaugural edition of Cricket South Africa (CSA) T20 League. A BCCI official said that the board will not allow its players to take part in any foreign cricket leagues.

West Indies all-rounders Andre Russell and Sunil Narine and England batter Jonny Bairstow are among the players signed by Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ADKR) for the inaugural edition of the UAE's International League T20 (ILT20). ADKR, owned by the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), announced their squad on Tuesday. Trinbago Knight Riders, a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) team is also owned by KKR.
