Daniel Vettori Hints At Possible Reason Behind RCB Retaining Maxwell

With Virat Kohli stepping down as captain after IPL 2021, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have a real dilemma and will be hoping to find the best solution ahead of the upcoming season. Many fans and experts have asked the franchise to rope in former SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain David Warner, who had a fantastic T20 World Cup last year. Despite getting removed from SRH's captaincy mid-way through IPL 2021, Warner was a pivotal figure for Australia, who won the T20 World Cup trophy. But former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori feels that the franchise has an option right in front of them and suggested the name of Glenn Maxwell. The Aussie all-rounder is one of the three players to have been retained by the franchise. The others being Kohli and Mohammed Siraj. The former RCB cricketer also feels that Maxwell was retained as "he's a potential captaincy option".

Former Auctioneer Narrates Story Of IPL's "First Bidding War" For MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni is considered by many to be Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) most successful player in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. The veteran wicketkeeper-batter will be captaining CSK once again in IPL 2022 after being retained by the franchise. Having led CSK to four IPL titles, he will be once again hoping to impress in the upcoming season. Ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, former IPL auctioneer Richard Madley shared an interesting story on how Dhoni started "the first bidding war" in the tournament's auction history, with CSK buying the former captain for 1.5 million dollars. In a candid conversation with Ravichandran Ashwin, Madley opened up about the inaugural IPL 2008 auction. He also spoke about how buying Shane Warne was a "smart move" by Rajasthan Royals (RR), who won the 2008 edition.

Was asked to quit cricket and drive auto after 2019 IPL: Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj says he was asked to "quit cricket and drive auto" with his father after a poor 2019 IPL season, making him think that his career in the league was over before MS Dhoni's counsel came to his rescue. Siraj's seven wickets in nine matches with an economy rate of nearly 10 reflected his franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) disastrous outing that season as they lost six straight games at the start and finished at the bottom. His worst performance came against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) when he was hit for five sixes and 36 runs in 2.2 overs, which included two beamers, forcing captain Virat Kohli to take him off bowling.
