KATHMANDU: A search team retrieved the body of top US ski mountaineer Hilaree Nelson from the Himalayas on Wednesday (Sep 28), two days after she disappeared on the slopes of Nepal's Manaslu peak.
cricket star Sandeep Lamichhane defended failing to return home to face rape allegations almost three weeks after an arrest warrant, saying he intends to do so "as soon as possible". A Nepali court issued the warrant on September 8 following an allegation by a 17-year-old girl, but Lamichhane is thought to have remained in the Caribbean, where he was playing in a tournament. With police believed to be preparing to file an arrest warrant with Interpol, Lamichhane on Sunday issued a statement on social media reiterating that the claims against him were baseless.
Nepal cricket team's former captain Sandeep Lamichhane, who has been recently accused of a sexual assault by a minor, hopes to return to his country, as soon as possible. Lamichhane still remains at large while Nepal Police initiates a process to issue an Interpol warrant for his arrest. Taking to Facebook for the second time since the filing of a case of sexual assault by a minor, the former national cricketer reiterated to return back to Nepal "at an appropriate time."
India crashed out of the SAFF Women's Championship after a 0-1 defeat at the hands of hosts Nepal in the semifinals at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu on Friday. This is the first time the Indian football team has been knocked out in the semifinals stage of the tournament. Rashmi Kumari Ghishing scored the only goal of the game as the hosts eked out a win on a mud-soaked pitch.
