Gujarat Titans stamped their class once again in the Indian Premier League 2023 as they beat SunRisers Hyderabad comprehensively to become the first team to enter the playoffs. In fact, with 18 points in 13 games, the Hardik Pandya-led GT have also secured a spot in the top-two and will play the Qualifier 1 on May 23. Sunrisers Hyderabad, after the loss are on eight points with 12 matches, are out of playoff contention. Till now, Delhi Capitals are also out of playoff race. All other teams are still in playoff race.

Shubman Gill hit his maiden IPL century as Gujarat Titans became the first team to seal a place in the play-offs of the ongoing edition with a convincing 34-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Ahmedabad on Monday. Gill slammed 101 off just 58 balls with the help of 13 fours and one six, and added 147 runs for the second wicket with Sai Sudharsan (47 off 36 balls), to power GT to 188 for nine despite a late comeback by Sunrisers Hyderabad's Bhuvneshwar Kumar (5/30). With the bat, SRH were never in the hunt as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals to be restricted to 154 for nine.

For most part of Gujarat Titans' innings against SunRisers Hyderabad, the Hardik Pandya-led side looked to be complete control after they batted first. There was a brilliant century by Shubman Gill while Sai Sudharshan provided fireworks too. Everything seemed to be going really smoothly for the defending champions until the last over happened. SRH's veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar stepped up his game when it mattered as GT lost four wickets in six balls to be restricted below 190. On the first ball centurion Gill was caught out followed by Rashid Khan on a duck. Though Bhuvneshwar missed a hat-trick, he affected a team hat-trick as his brilliant fielding got Noor Ahmad run out. Then on the fifth ball of the last over, Bhuvneshwar completed his five-wicket haul with the wicket of Mohammed Shami.

Shubman Gill's sublime form got one notch better on Monday as the young Gujarat Titans opener slammed his maiden IPL century in a match against SunRisers Hyderabad in Ahmedabad. Gill reached the century mark in just 56 balls and with it became the first centurion for the defending champions. He reached the 50-run mark off just 22 balls and then kept his cool despite wickets falling at the other end to reach the triple-figure mark in just 56 balls. Gill now has a century in Tests, ODIs, T20Is and even the IPL now. He is one of very few players to achieve the feat. He has also crossed the 500-run mark tally in the IPL 2023.

IPL 2023: LSG Look To Halt Mumbai Indians' Momentum In Crucial Clash

Mumbai Indians are on a roll in the business end of the tournament and Lucknow Super Giants will be aiming to halt their momentum on a tricky pitch in the IPL in Lucknow on Tuesday. Mumbai Indians are third on the points table with 14 points and with a point less from same the number of games, LSG are holding on to the fourth spot. Both teams will be looking to get out of the danger zone as eight teams remain in the play-off contention.
